New rules for householder extensions and other types of permitted development
From 30 May 2013 major changes to permitted development rights came into force - allowing larger single storey rear extensions and certain types of other development to be built under permitted development rights using a streamlined process known as 'Prior Notification'. These new rules do not apply to any property within the South Downs National Park, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Conservation Areas or Site of Special Scientific Interest. Many new housing developments also require planning permission for ALL extensions.
